“Four walls provide a structure, but the stories that fill them make it a home. It is this simple yet profound reality that I have overlooked most in the pursuit of perceived ownership & accomplishment. Slowly but surely forgetting the beauty of those who create a home. Always waiting to be put together before opening the doors, though no amount of time proves sufficient to this end. There is a long table, but no chairs to sit on. A large fridge, but no food to nourish. A seasoned fireplace with no kindling to offer warmth. I have exchanged the deep longing to be known with a false narrative of flattery. As this veneer becomes apparent, I gently allow the cracks in my walls to become an offering of surrender. The warm embrace of acceptance begins to sweep away the fear of rejection like springtime warmth absorbing long winter shadows. It is a sanctuary for my family, but also a place of rest for the wanderer. A place to commune & be honest. A place where the overflow of home is evident through the warmth it provides & the encouragement it extends to those worn out by the weight of life. It is a sense of returning to a place that you had always been created to live within.
